An AGV system, also known as an automatic guided vehicle, autonomous guided vehicle, or even automatic guided cart, is a system that follows a predetermined path around a facility. An automated guided vehicle (AGV) is a mechanical vehicle that transports a load through a factory, assembly line, or warehouse.

Automated guided vehicle systems are used for repetitive tasks that would normally be handled by forklifts, conveyor systems, or manual carts, such as moving large volumes of material.
